Investigators spent the afternoon scouring the potential crime scene located less than 100m away from the Riverside Sunday market.

Nearby shrubs were searched for evidence along with plants lining the pond.

It remains unclears how the long the body had been in the water but Acting Inspector Mick Ackery said it's possible the man may have been in the pond for several days.

Anyone who may have any information is urged to contact police immediately.
