Brazen moment a woman jumps a fence and flees a quarantine camp in broad daylight just two days after returning to Australia from overseas

A woman has been caught climbing a fence to escape a quarantine camp just two days after arriving in Australia.

The 33-year-old had returned from overseas and was in mandatory 14-day quarantine at Howard Springs in the Northern Territory when she fled on Tuesday.

CCTV footage from the facility shows the woman throwing her luggage over a fence before climbing over and casually walking off with her bag.

Witness Josiah Bosch, who is also in quarantine, said he had warned the woman she would get caught before she fled.

When she ignored him and continued her escape, he grabbed his phone and started recording.

'It happened quite quickly and we thought ''is she doing this?'',' he told NT News.

'And as soon as she did I went to grab my phone and film it as it was out of the ordinary.'

Incident Controller, Acting Commander Sachin Sharma, said the woman was spotted by other quarantining overseas arrivals and security guards who alerted police.

'She was located nearby within 15 minutes and returned to the facility,' he said.

He said police are investigating the incident and charges are yet to be laid.
