Accused killer, 25, is charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man he knows in Sydney on New Year's Day

A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing another man. 

Emergency services were called to Myddleton Avenue, Fairfield, south west Sydney, at 5pm on New Year's Day.

Officers and paramedics found a man with multiple stab wounds.

The man, 63, was taken to Liverpool Hospital. He is in a serious condition. 

The 25-year-old man was taken to Fairfield police station, where he was charged with attempted murder.

Police allege the two men know each other. 

The 25-year-old is expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
