New Jersey 'master hypnotist,' 55, is charged with sexual assault 'for performing prostate exams' on clients

A hypnotist from New Jersey has been accused of sexually assaulting some of his male clients by performing prostate exams on them, even though he is not a doctor. 

Robert Bruckner, 55, was arrested on Wednesday on eight charges, including sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and practicing medicine without a license.

The investigation into Bruckner, who owns and operates Major Mindset Hypnosis Counseling in Fairfield, was launched after clients came forward to police, claiming that during appointments the hypnosis therapist had subjected them to a prostate exam, or asked them to submit to one, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. 

Officials have not disclosed whether any of the alleged assaults took place while the victims were hypnotized.

Bruckner, described on his business' website as a 'certified master hypnotist' who offers hypnosis counseling services to adults and children, is not a licensed physician, reported NJ.com. 

'Hypnotist Robert A. Bruckner is a board certified hypnotist who specializes in academic, sports performance and medical hypnosis-counseling for adults, teens and children,' his online profile reads. 

Bruckner, who launched his practice in 2013 after completing his training in New York, practice various types of hypnosis, including deep trance, to address medical, sports performance, academic problems and weight control.

According to Bruckner's profile on PsychologyToday.com, each hypnosis session costs up to $395.

Bruckner was ordered held without a bond at the Essex County Jail, where he remained as of Friday.
