Grim mystery as forensic specialists scour the home of a 36-year-old woman after she was fatally stabbed and her body was discovered by her horrified mum

Forensic specialists continue to examine the home that Bundaberg woman Lisa Hund shared with her teenage son after she was found fatally stabbed there on Friday.

Officers discovered the 36-year-old at the residence with her 16-year-old son after her mother made a triple-zero call.

'Unfortunately, the woman was deceased before they arrived,' Detective Inspector Gary Pettiford told reporters on Saturday.

'We believe our victim was stabbed to death and bled out at the scene.'

'The weapon used was in the house located near the deceased.

'The incident took place inside the house.'

Ms Hund's mother called police after arriving at the home to go shopping with her daughter and grandson.

She and the boy have been co-operating with detectives.

'We have not made any arrests and we do not have anybody in custody,' Det Insp Pettiford said.

He said forensic officers were likely to examine the crime scene for two to three more days.

Police have urged people who spotted anything suspicious in the area on Friday morning or have dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
