Teaching assistant, 56, 'groomed pupil into performing sex act on her - and told him if he didn't have girlfriend by the age of 16 she would sleep with him' 

A teaching assistant performed sex acts on a pupil at her school, a jury heard yesterday.

Ming Lockhart-Stephens, now 56, is accused of indecently touching the under age boy over three years while working at a school in south Devon.

Plymouth Crown Court heard she encouraged him to perform sex acts on her at his home and on one occasion in a car park.

Now an adult, he told police two years ago that he had been 'groomed' and sexually abused by her.

Prosecutor Heather Hope said: 'She was using her position to groom him for her own sexual gratification.'

Lockhart-Stephens, of Avonwick, Devon, denies four counts of sexual activity with a child between February 2010 and February 2013.

She also denies two charges of inciting a child into sexual activity over the same period.

She denies any sexual activity took place between her and the former pupil who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Miss Hope said the defendant befriended the boy's father and she exchanged 'flirting and sexualised' messages with the boy.

The court heard they performed various sex acts short of full intercourse at his home.

Miss Hope said: 'She told him by the age of 16 if he did not have a girlfriend, she would have sex with him.'

The trial at Plymouth Crown Court continues.
