'He's not satisfied with what he's done in his career': Mikel Arteta says Willian's hunger for success at Arsenal makes him a perfect fit for his revamped side ahead of Community Shield curtain-raiser against Liverpool

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been impressed with Willian's mentality since the Brazilian joined the Gunners from rivals Chelsea earlier this month.

The 32-year-old agreed a three-year deal after his contract with the Blues expired.

His eye-watering wages of £220,000-a-week raised some eyebrows given his age but Arteta has already seen enough to believe he can justify them.

Brazilian winger Willian completed his free transfer to Arsenal earlier this month

'I want players who are optimistic and willing and they want to win for our club,' the Arsenal boss said ahead of Saturday's Community Shield showdown with Liverpool.

'That is the feeling I got from the first day I met Willian. He is not satisfied with what he has done in his career, which is a lot, and he is going to bring some special qualities for our team.'

Asked if Willian will feature at Wembley, Arteta said: 'I don't know.

'We'll make the decision tomorrow on who is going to play and who is going to be involved, but for sure they're going to see our signings playing a lot of minutes this season.

'We've had two training sessions so you can imagine that this game comes straight in the middle of our mini pre-season, but as well we haven't had much time to lose a lot of the condition.

'Obviously it's not an ideal moment to play in this final but the players are motivated. Obviously it's another opportunity to win a trophy and we will go for it.'
