LeAnn Rimes clearly enjoys her role as a stepmother - and is more than willing to defend it.
After slamming her detractors on Twitter, to uphold her status as a 'bonus mom', the 30-year-old took her two stepsons to a little league baseball game, on Thursday.
The country star offered affection and encouragement to oldest son Mason, as they cheered on little Jake for his home game in Los Angeles.
And the success on the baseball diamond clearly made the boy proud as his older brother and stepmother watched on.
As Jake sported on the field, nine-year-old Mason climbed a fence - making LeAnn more than a little nervous.
The actress was dressed in skinny jeans, strappy sandals, and a loose tank top for the day's activities.
She accessorized with aviator sunglasses, pyramid shaped earrings, and gold bracelets.
While her day at the baseball field was one of smiles and family camaraderie, LeAnn has not had it easy.
The famous songwriter found herself embroiled in an explosive tweeting battle with online followers in August last year, which was quickly followed by a stay in rehab for 'stress and anxiety'.
And the morning before her stepson's baseball game appeared to revisit those old wounds.
The self-titled 'bonus mom' followed up with another defensive maneuver, saying: 'Supporting other step moms is not putting down bio moms. Some people seriously need to grow up.'
The second tweet in the series was the more revealing of the two and was reminiscent of her breakdown last year.
While LeAnn was still married to her first husband Dean Sheremet, she began an affair in 2009 with actor Eddie Cibrian, who is the father of Mason and Jake. But Eddie was also married at the time to Brandi Glanville.
After her alleged online assailant had made claims, in August, that LeAnn had been at fault for the dissolution of both marriages, the singer fired back a series of tweets in her own defense.
Doing the rounds: The eager-to-please star made sue she walked the length and breadth of the field
'Correction…we
broke up our own marriages,' she responded, 'People have nothing better
to do than judge something they know nothing about.'
The actress further explained: 'Remember you can’t break what’s already broken. I’m not anything like what you read about. It’s all lies and anything you’ve read about no matter who or where it comes from….well, let’s just say its a game for so many to hurt others. Time to move on, everyone else has.'
LeAnn, who is currently married to Eddie, entered rehab soon after the online debate.
Once she had successfully completed her stay at the rehabilitation facility she revealed some of the reasons for her breakdown.
The Unchained Melody singer told The Boston Heraldthat social media played a significant role in her psychic collapse.
'I think it's really hard to deal with Twitter and Facebook and all these social media outlets,' she explained.
'It's hard to take it day after day of reading and seeing things that someone you don't even know says about you. As much as you said you don't want it to penetrate, it does, because you're human.'
Her decision to seek treatment for 'stress and anxiety' was reported to have stemmed from the Twitter war in August.
The singer has since filed a lawsuit against Laura James and Kimberly Smiley, the other alleged online assailant, on grounds of being bullied on Twitter.
In March Smiley, a Californian school teacher and mother-of-four, stated she was going to fight back against LeAnn. 'I’m the one who is being bullied,' Smiley told RadarOnline.com.
